The books on Don Quixote's shelf, in English

Don Quixote's Library

… and found more than a hundred volumes of big books very well bound, and some other small ones.

Don Quixote, Part I, chapter 6, tr. John Ormsby

While Don Quixote slept, the curate and the barber went through his library one book at a time. Most went out of the window into the yard to be burned, and then they walled up the room. This edition puts the shelf back: every book they judged, and every other book the story names, in a complete English translation.

The Library

In the order the curate took them down (I.6). Tap a book to see its verdict.

In the Yard

Burned unread with the rest that night, before anyone looked at them (I.7).

Elsewhere in the Story

Books the knight read before the scrutiny, books in the innkeeper's chest, and books the story cites.
